GameStop is in the spotlight of a populism movement on Wallstreet after Reddit group WallStreetBets became a driving force in pushing the stock from $3 per share to an astounding $389 per share, causing institutional investors, who were short selling the stock scrambling to cover their positions. Robin Hood and other stock platforms then prevented retail investors from buying more shares and communication platforms Discord and Reddit temporarily shut down the WallStreetBets groups, raising eyebrows and concerns.
